Masonry calculators

How many bricks or blocks a wall needs, from its size, openings and the unit size.

Measuring a wall

Measure the length and height of each wall face you will lay, then measure every door, window and other opening separately so the calculator can subtract them. For gables or stepped walls, split the face into rectangles. Use the actual size of the brick or block, not its nominal size, unless you choose the standard modular option.

Waste and what isn’t counted

Order more than the bare count to cover cuts, chipped units and breakage – the Brick Industry Association’s Technical Note 10 recommends at least 5 % for brick. The calculators count single-wythe walls only and leave out mortar, ties, lintels and flashing. They estimate material, not wall design: structure, footings and code questions belong with a qualified professional.
