Measuring a floor
Measure each room wall to wall at floor level, at the widest points. For L-shaped or irregular rooms, split the floor into rectangles, work out each area and add them – then use the calculator’s “known area” option.
Waste and packages
Flooring is sold in boxes or rolls, so every calculator here rounds up to whole packages. The waste allowance is yours to set: it depends on the layout, the shape of the room and the product. Check the manufacturer’s installation instructions before you buy.
